ASSUMPTION OF RISK, WAIVER OF LIABILITY, AND RULES AGREEMENT FOR GUESTS
Acknowledgment of Haunted Attraction & Inherent Risks
I understand that Norfolk Haunted Temple is an immersive haunted attraction designed to frighten and startle guests. The experience includes, but is not limited to: total darkness, confined spaces, uneven floors/steps, strobe lights, loud noises, sudden movements by actors, fog/haze effects, and intense theatrical scenes.
I acknowledge that participation involves inherent risks that cannot be eliminated without destroying the nature of the attraction. These risks include, but are not limited to: tripping or falling; bumping into walls, props, or other guests; being accidentally touched by actors or other guests; physical reactions to fear such as panic, anxiety, or fainting; seizures triggered by strobe lighting; asthma or respiratory irritation from theatrical fog; and other physical or emotional injury.
Assumption of Risk
I voluntarily choose to enter Norfolk Haunted Temple with full knowledge of these risks. I expressly assume all risks of injury, illness, or damage, whether known or unknown, including those that may result from the negligence of Norfolk Haunted Temple, its owners, managers, employees, volunteers, contractors, and actors ("Released Parties").
Health & Medical Warnings
I certify that I am in good physical and mental health. I understand this attraction is NOT RECOMMENDED for: pregnant individuals; persons with heart conditions, high blood pressure, epilepsy or seizure disorders, respiratory conditions including asthma, claustrophobia, back/neck problems, or any condition that could be aggravated by stress, darkness, loud noise, or strobe lights. If I have any such condition, I choose to participate at my own risk.
Norfolk Haunted Temple does not provide medical personnel on site. In the event of injury, I authorize staff to contact emergency services at my expense.
Waiver and Release of Liability
In consideration of being allowed to enter, I, for myself and my heirs, release, waive, and discharge the Released Parties from any and all claims, liabilities, or demands for personal injury, death, or property loss, even if arising from the negligence of the Released Parties, to the fullest extent permitted by Virginia law. This waiver does not apply to gross negligence or intentional misconduct.
Guest Conduct & Safety Rules
For the safety of all guests and actors, I agree to:
Follow all posted rules and staff instructions.
No running, pushing, or horseplay.
No touching actors, props, or set pieces. Actors will not intentionally touch you.
No smoking, vaping, alcohol, or drugs on premises.
No recording of any kind inside the attraction.
Exit immediately if instructed by staff.
I understand that violating rules may result in removal without refund.
Photo/Video Release
I consent to being photographed or recorded by security cameras or staff for safety and promotional purposes without compensation.
Governing Law
This agreement is governed by Virginia law. If any part is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
BY ENTERING NORFOLK HAUNTED TEMPLE, I ACKNOWLEDGE I HAVE READ, UNDERSTOOD, AND AGREE TO THIS WAIVER. I AM AWARE I AM GIVING UP CERTAIN LEGAL RIGHTS.
FOR GUESTS UNDER 18:
A parent or legal guardian must sign a release form at the door. Virginia law limits a parent’s ability to waive a minor’s negligence claims, but this signature confirms the minor has permission to enter and assumes inherent risks.
